# Frequently asked questions

> Short answers about footage, editing, exports, minutes, and what Guin will and will not do.

## The basics

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Will it work on my messy footage?">
    Yes, messy is normal. Guin watches your footage and figures out the storylines, best takes, and shots, so you do not spend hours scrubbing through it. You do not need to trim or organize anything before you upload.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I need to know how to edit?">
    No. You tell Guin what you need the way you would text a person, and you approve every video before it goes anywhere. When you want fine control, the Smart Editor is right there.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Is this AI-generated video?">
    No. Everything Guin makes comes from footage you filmed. Nothing synthetic goes in unless you ask for it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How is this different from clip tools?">
    Most clip tools read the transcript and slice a long video into short ones. Guin watches the footage itself, so it can work from scattered clips as well as one long file, and it makes long-form edits as well as short clips.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Does Guin post to my social accounts?">
    No. You export the file and post it yourself. Nothing leaves Guin without you.

## Footage

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What can I upload?">
    MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, WebM, and MXF video files, up to 10 GB each and up to 4K resolution. Photos and audio files are coming soon. See [Upload footage](/guides/uploading-footage).
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is my file still processing?">
    Guin transcribes and watches every file before it can use it. Time grows with length, so an hour-long interview takes noticeably longer than a phone clip. You can write your request while you wait. The run starts when the footage is ready.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do I have to upload the same footage again for a new video?">
    No. Everything you upload stays in your [Media library](/account/footage-library) and can be reused.
  </Accordion>
</AccordionGroup>

## Editing

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="Should I use Clip Studio or the Smart Editor?">
    Use Clip Studio when you want several clips from your footage. Use the Smart Editor when you are making one video or need precise changes. You can open a clip in the Smart Editor at any time.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I undo what the Director did?">
    Yes. Every Director edit is a step in your undo history. Press `⌘Z`.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I edit the video by editing the transcript?">
    Not directly. The transcript is read-only, but you can click a word with the Blade tool to cut there, or ask the Director to remove a section, the pauses, or the filler words.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="How do I add b-roll?">
    Ask the Director, for example: `Cover the part about the workshop with the workshop footage`. The audio underneath keeps playing.
  </Accordion>

## Exports and minutes

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="What counts toward my minutes?">
    Only the video you export. Chatting, revisions, re-edits, and retries are not counted, and exporting an editor project for Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or DaVinci Resolve uses no minutes.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Can I export in 4K?">
    Yes, on paid plans. 4K exports are rendered from your original files. The free plan exports up to 1080p.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="My download link stopped working.">
    Rendered files are kept for about an hour. Export again to get a fresh file.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Why is there a watermark on my export?">
    Exports on the free plan carry a small Guin watermark in the corner. Paid plans remove it.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="Do unused minutes roll over?">
    No, the monthly allowance resets each month. Extra minutes you buy are separate and stay valid for 12 months.
